About The Haven Home
Empowering women to move from poverty to prosperity
Cleveland, Ohio, has disproportionately high rates of homelessness and poverty; in fact, recent statistics show more than half of Cleveland children under age 5 live in poverty.
At The Haven Home, we’re working to change that.
Our mission is to provide compassionate support and stable housing for pregnant and parenting women in Cleveland and beyond who are experiencing homelessness. Through personalized enrichment services and a nurturing environment, we empower women to build resilient foundations, fostering independence to move them from poverty to prosperity.

What is The Haven Home?
The Haven Home is a mission-driven nonprofit organization that provides stable housing options for pregnant and parenting women experiencing homelessness in Northeast Ohio. While we opened in 2017 as an emergency overflow shelter, we’ve since adapted and expanded to meet the needs of our community.
Today, we offer longer-term transitional housing. Our goal is to provide not only a home for mothers and their children (up to age 5) as they seek to build their futures, but also equip them with the holistic resources they need to live, work and nurture their families independently.

Who does The Haven Home serve?
The residents in our Cleveland, Ohio, home are pregnant women and mothers experiencing homelessness, as well as their children under the age of 5. At any given time, we can provide housing and resources to up to 14 families, each with up to two children.
Women and children at The Haven Home need housing and support for a range of reasons, whether they’re survivors of domestic abuse, have experienced a recent tragedy or simply struggling to make ends meet for their families on low or no income. Their situations may be different, but they share a common reason for seeking support at The Haven Home: They want to shape better futures for themselves and their children.
Families can stay up to 12 months and, throughout their time here, we continually work to develop the skills they need to become financially independent, emotionally healthy mothers—setting them on the path to prosperity.

“The Haven Home has been a haven for my heart. They’ve supported me in so many ways, especially with my mental health and emotional health."
—Alexis, former Haven Home resident who’s now a children’s book author

What services do you provide?
First and foremost, we provide mothers who are experiencing homelessness and their children with a secure, warm and nurturing home. The Haven Home facilities offer not only private residential rooms for the families but also common living, dining, laundry, work, worship and play spaces—both indoors and outdoors. Our facilities are monitored around the clock via closed-circuit video surveillance, and staff assistance is required for entry. Plus, we’re located within walking distance of public transportation.
Beyond our physical location, we’re committed to helping these women and children grow.
